#MeetMeMondaySWC
Here you can meet some of the awesome people that make up our church!

Hi! My name is Donna Kester and I serve as a biblical counselor to women in our church and in our area. I also serve by taking pictures during baptisms. My husband, David, and I were high school sweethearts and have been married almost 38 years. We have attended SWC for 17 years now. We have 3 grown children and 2 grandchildren. We were searching for a church home and found SWC to be a great place for our family. Great children’s and youth ministries and Sunday School classes as well as preaching! David and I are both retired and loving it. David E. Kester serves as a deacon, teaches the college and career class for our young adults (those graduated from HS 18-26) and is one of the cooks for our monthly men’s breakfast. We both serve by helping to keep our church clean and safe for all.

Hello everyone! My name is Kristen, and I’ve been a part of Sterlingwood Church for almost 25 years. I started out in Children’s Church and progressed through the Youth Group as well, making close friends along the way. As an adult, I enjoy the small group I’m a part of and would highly recommend joining one if you’d like a close knit group of people who are navigating this life along with you!
When I’m not working, I am working on my side business as a home baker. I make different kinds of breads, homemade salsa, and cookies! Other than that, I tend to my vegetable garden, spend time with my English Bulldog, Luna, and my nephew and nieces, one of which was just born! They are pure joy and constant entertainment!

Hola! We are Nicholas and Adriana Olivas. We own Semper Striping, a pavement marking company in Houston. Nicholas started the company two years ago and I joined him earlier this year. We have been together since our senior year at Galena Park High School, about 18 years. We have three lovely children – Victoria, Ezra, and Levi. Nicholas loves to fish and the outdoors in general. Adriana loves to read, paint, and garden.
We have been attending Sterling Wood for seven years and help serve the Married Sunday Class and Faithwalking. We love our church! It has been the shepherding light in our Christian faith. We would not be where we are in our walk with Christ today had it not been for the church’s leadership and guidance. We believe in our church’s authenticity, genuine love, leadership, and spiritual integrity.

Hey! My name is Kaylee! Next to me is my handsome hubby Felix. We have been married a year and almost a half now! Time flies by so quickly it’s ridiculous! 😁Anyway, I’ve been going to SWC since I was at least in 1st grade. To say the least I’ve been through some seasons with SWC and I believe the best is ahead of them! Okay a little more about me and my true love. I’m a Houstonian born and raised but a true traveler at heart. (That’s how I met my hubby!) I’m also a photographer/artist/creative! I volunteer my services to SWC as a way to give back what God has blessed me with. I’m a huge TV/movie person, but I wish I loved reading more 😅 Also I love using emojis so I apologize if that gets annoying… I love being married to Felix and learning to be a better more godly wife! Felix on the other hand is from India, where we met. He has a huge heart for God and for people. He loves to travel as well and to explore new areas. He loves being outside so this quarantine has him a little stir crazy from time to time haha! 😂 He has a business degree and worked in advertising before we moved back to Texas. (Btw we got married in another country, Bahrain, where he was working) God has been so faithful through all our moves and we believe He has us here for a reason! We both attend the marriage bible study group on Sunday mornings with SWC. Awesome group of people! We seriously gain so much listening to everyone share and be authentic. We are also part of a homegroup/small group. Which we really enjoy as well because it’s a whole set of different people from the married class we attend. I guess that’s a small summary about us! Feel free to reach out if you want to get to know us more! Also, hope to see some of yall real soon! 😉 Don’t be a stranger. ❤

Hey there! My name is David Proctor I am semi-retired Committee Chairman Boy Scouts of America, Raven District, Sam Houston Area Council December. I’m married to my beautiful wife, Cynthia “Cindy”. Cindy and I met at a Friday night football game in 1977. We discovered that following Sunday that we both attended the same church. It was love at first sight. Her parents made me wait a year to date her. I did and it was so worth it. We have two sons, Christopher and Joshua. Proud grandparents to three grandchildren Sophia, Ethan, and Violet.
Cindy is quite the organizer, and facilitator. She is on the planing committee for many major functions for Kinder Morgan. She’s an awesome wife, mother, and grandmother as well as the backbone of our family. She enjoys crocheting, and working in the flower beds as well as cooking. I enjoy working in the flower beds and working on wood projects in our garage. Cindy has a passionate heart and a giving spirit. She created (sewn), and has now “given away for free” 300+ face mask.
Although, we were at Holy Trinity United Methodist Church 47 years, it only took one visit to SWC (back in November 2007 when Dale Jones was the Pastor) for us to uproot and move our membership to SWC. We had never in 47 years felt as loved, cared for or a part of our church family as we did in that first visit to SWC. It was a joy and a pleasure to join SWC. Pastor Aaron has continued making us feel accepted, respected, never judged, and in fact, he makes everyone feel like family. His messages are “spot on”, and we feel at home. SWC will forever be that place where our family, comes together to honor our creator.

Hey, my name is Cole, and I have been with sterling wood church since I was a baby. I am now part of the church itself! I help with the church videos and camps. I am going to school for my bachelor’s degree in IT. My hobbies include cooking, gaming, and costume making! They help me relax after a long day!

Hi! I’m Danny Clough and I volunteer as the self titled, Senior (in more ways than one) Engineer that deals with Audio/Visual for SWC. My wife Mary and I joined SWC back in 1998 and we have two children Daniel and Abigail. Sometimes you will find me working the sound board during the Sunday service or maybe during practice. You may also see me operating the computer for the projector and working the light controls for the lighting on the stage. And there are times you may see me in the sound room recording the Sunday service on multiple cameras and uploading the files to SWC’S website. Then on more occasions than not I will be moving about the sanctuary at a hurried pace trying to resolve an audio/visual or technical problem that sprang up before the service started. You know sometimes at church I feel like I could be “Waldo” in the pictures titled “Where’s Waldo”

Hi! I’m Dianne Millican, secretary at SWC, and also the church clerk. I love my job! It gives me an opportunity to interact with many people at the church. My husband Jim and I joined the church in 2003 and immediately became active in children’s ministry. I teach 1st and 2nd grade Sunday School and lead 2nd grade Awana Sparks on Wednesdays. I’ve worked in office administration for many years, retired from working for five years when Jim went to heaven, then answered God’s call in 2015 when I became secretary at SWC. I’ve relied on Isaiah 41:13 since I became single: “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you.”

Hi! I ‘m Sherrill Ubernosky. I have been married for 27 years in March to Bill Ubernosky. I have a son Daniel and a daughter Rachel. I have been attending Sterling Wood Church for 27 years. I live in Deer Park so we say that we like our church so much that we pay to come to church (toll) . I lead the Ladies Ministry. I teach a Ladies Sunday School class at 9: 30 in building A1. I am on the Praise team and I teach the 2nd grade Sparks in Awana. I love teaching God’s Word to students and ladies.
